This will be my last post here, I have been – in the little ‘spare time’ I have at my disposal – making a new website for my photography interest It will be online soon (exactly as transiting Photographica conjuncts my Neptune at 23 Scorpio of course!) and I’ll put a link to it here when it happens.

This is one of the many gates at the Queen’s home at Sandringham. If you get quiet in this place it has a remarkable energy and it really hits you when you are tuned into it, I grew up near here and have visited often over the years, but it is only now that I can appreciate the attractor field of a place like Sandringham. It has so much gravity, not because of the royal family, but actually because of the sheer 4th house power of it, the tradition, the heritage, the mystery of time. It really is worth a detour.

Nobody in the world is ever so happy to see me as my little Ted. And the feeling is mutual!

There are miles of these quiet lanes near where I live and I have spent many meditative hours exploring them. This is one of my favourites.

A new roll of Kodak BW400. We are fast approaching the most difficult time of year for photography, unless you’re lucky enough to have a studio at your disposal, the light is generally flat, short-lived and on the dim side. On a more positive note, Alice gave me a Mamiya 645 for my birthday, it’s a beautiful thing, made in 1979, built to a standard that simply no longer seems to exist in the digital domain. It also weighs as much as a small car. I have wanted a medium format camera for a while now, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results, but I’m in no hurry to get through the roll, I’ve only taken maybe 5 pictures with it so far. I’m also shooting a roll of Kodak Ektar in the A1, so that will be quite different I am sure. Plenty to look forward to then, despite the challenges of winter light.

In the same vein, Alice bought a Lubitel on Ebay for an absolute song, the price of a pint and a sandwich at the local gastropub. It’s a Russian TLR, and because she’s astonishingly clever and can read Russian, she told me that it says ‘Lomo’ on the front. How amazing, a Russian camera right out of the legendary Lomo factory. Of course I’m rather envious because I only have 5 film cameras! In any case, I bought her a Svedlovsk lightmeter from the Ukraine, also made in the same Lomo factory, so she is really kitted out now, and we are already buying medium format film in bulk. I also picked up a 24mm Sigma FD superwide from Ebay for 30 quid and I went out yesterday because the light here was truly amazing, iridescent. Norfolk can be really breathtaking at this time of year.
